Computer configured in a non-Roman language A problem may arise during installation if the workstation on which you are installing the Visual Multimedia 4th Edition uses a non-Roman language configuration, such as Chinese, Japanese, Russian, etc. To remedy this problem in Windows XP, change the language of the workstation to a Roman language, such as French or English, in the Control Panel under Regional and Language Options / Regional and Linguistic Options.
Macintosh This software cannot be installed on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system. Jaguar (Mac OS X – 10.2.8) If the name of the hard drive on which you have installed the Visual Multimedia 4th Edition contains a slash (/), (for example, Macintosh HD/1), the following error message will appear when you start up the Visual: Director player error, object expected. To resolve this issue, click in the name of the hard disk and delete the slash (/).
Snow Leopard (Mac OS X – 10.6) The Visual Multimedia 4th Edition requires Rosetta software in order to operate. If this software is not installed, you will be invited to do so during the installation of the Visual. Rosetta is a translator for Mac OS X that allows execution without modification of applications developed and compiled for PowerPC processors on Apple systems that use Intel processors. With versions of the OS X earlier than 10.6, Rosetta is installed by default.
QuickTime The Visual Multimedia 4th Edition and the Visual Multimedia 4th Edition, Multilingual Version require that QuickTime 6 (or a later version) be installed on your workstation. You can download this application at the following web address: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download.
Note: The Visual Multimedia 4th Edition and the Visual Multimedia 3rd Edition (version 3.5) can both be installed on the same workstation and can run independently. |
